"(____), could you run to the store, and sell these vegetables to Frank; he called and told me he wanted these. "
You nodded towards your grandma. She reached for her keys, you gently grabbed her hand.
"I'll just catch the bus, I'm sure he won't mind."
She smiled and you helped her to her chair. You kissed her cheek and grabbed your phone and the basket of vegetables, also your backpack. You walked down the side walk towards the closest bus stop.
You only had to wait a few minutes until bus finally pulled up. You stepped upon it and paid the fee. You sat down and smiled as you saw a little boy, who was wearing; kaki short, a blue jacket and a white short, and some high socks which had tomato's on it, and some old shoes. You watched as he pulled a older man's sleeve.
"Papa! I'm hungry!" He whined.
"I know, I know. Papa is sorry Lovino but Papa can't afford some food right now, until I find a good job." He whispered.
You frowned. The boy frowned and tears rolled down his cheeks. The scene made you want to cry. Then you remembered the vegetables you had.
"Psst~ hey. Do you want a Tomato?" You whispered to the boy.
He suddenly perked up, you pulled one out of the basket, and handed it towards you.
"U-Uh, ma'am you don't have to do that." The little boy's father said.
You smiled, "I just heard that he was hungry and you couldn't afford any food. You don't have to pay me back, matter of fact take the whole basket, please?"
The man was shocked. The little boy took the tomato, and started to munch on it.You smiled b at the older man's shocked expression, "I'm (____) (____) by the way."
"Oh! I'm Antonio Carriedo, and this is my son Lovino."
You smiled and waved at Lovino, who flushed and looked away. You giggled.
You both talked as you the bus traveled the road. He told you how his ex-wife used to abuse him, and eventually left him. He also told you he got laid off his job and was struggling to look for one. You felt for the poor guy.
"Market Street." The bus driver announced.
"Oh that's my stop!" You said and grabbed you backpack.
"I guess this is goodbye...Oh, Wait!"
You grabbed a pen from your bag, and grabbed Antonio's hand. You smiled when you finished and waved at the two boys.
"Bye, Antonio, Lovino."
Antonio smiled and waved bye and watched as you exited the bus. He looked at his hand.
'(xxx)xxx-xxx, call me tomorrow!'
He smiled, and blushed a bit. Why was she so nice to him, he just didn't understand. He looked at his son to only see him munching on another tomato.
"Lovino, don't eat all the tomato's!"
I just thought of this when I saw the picture at the top.
The pic is So Adorable I Want it. The story is Cute too
hahah that last Part <3 "Lovino, don't eat all the tomato's!" Hahaah ^_^
When I saw grandma, I thought abuelita (Spanish) and when Peru popped into my head. This story reminded me of a similar situation I had over there with my grandma and mom. We had just gotten done eating at restaurant, and a little boy (5 or so) walk up to us asking for or left overs. It really is heartbreaking.
